The selling of Christmas Cakes to raise funds is a long-standing tradition at Lions Clubs throughout Southern Africa that was started in 1975.

Lions meet the needs of local communities throughout the world. Projects include vision programmes to improve and prevent blindness, hearing projects, diabetes awareness and education, youth exchange and leadership development, feeding schemes, assistance to senior citizens, the youth, mentally & physically challenged people, protecting the environment and disaster relief.
