Sebokeng Police clamps down on non-compliance

"We rely on community cooperation to rid our neighbourhoods of illicit activities and ensure a safer environment for all.”

SEBOKENG.- The Sebokeng police, in partnership with various stakeholders, last week conducted a highly successful Provincial Illicit Goods Operation aimed at ensuring safety and compliance during the festive season.

The operation, led by the Sebokeng SAPS and supported by the Sedibeng District Police Stations, K9 Unit, Emfuleni By-Laws, the Traffic Department, Community Safety, Gauteng Traffic, Department of Home Affairs, the Community Policing Forum (CPF), Emfuleni Health, Siyabangena Patrollers, and GTW, targeted non-compliant businesses and illicit activities in the area.

Police visited over twenty tuckshops in Sebokeng, resulting in fourteen of them being shut down due to non-compliance with health regulations identified by Emfuleni Health. Additionally, four individuals were arrested for illegal immigration, while two others were apprehended for possession of illicit cigarettes.

Colonel Stofina Mofokeng, acting station commander at Sebokeng SAPS said, “We rely on community cooperation to rid our neighbourhoods of illicit activities and ensure a safer environment for all.”

Sebokeng Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane encouraged residents to join community structures such as patrols and to report any suspicious activities or crimes in their areas. “Your vigilance and participation are vital to maintaining law and order, especially during this busy festive season,” she added.
