Young man (18) arrested for allegedly stabbing boy (17) to death in mall

The victim sustained one stab wound on the left chest.

ORANGE FARM.- An 18-year-old teen is behind bars after he allegedly stabbed a 17-year-old boy to death at the Eyethu Mall on Saturday morning.

It is said that the Orange Farm police attended to a complaint of a stabbing inside the mall. Upon arrival at the crime scene, they found a 17-year-old boy alleged to be stabbed with a knife by a known person. The victim was rushed to the nearby clinic for medical attention.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Shaan Motsapi said that the victim sustained one stab wound on the left chest, and whilst receiving medical attention, he succumbed due to the injury. A witness who was with the deceased alleged that whilst at the mall passing stores, they were approached by the suspect who stabbed the deceased with a knife without uttering a word.

“After that, the suspect ran away. With a swift response and immediate investigation, the police traced and managed to arrest and detain the suspect.”

The suspect will soon appear at Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court facing a charge of murder.
