Current state of ELM roads unacceptable – DA
“Furthermore, the poor state of our roads undermines efforts to attract investment, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth in Emfuleni.” Mollo added.

EMFULENI – The Democratic Alliance says the deteriorating state of road infrastructure in Emfuleni Local Municipality has reached crisis point, becoming a significant obstacle to economic growth and impacting local businesses and residents.
Cllr Dady Mollo, a DA Shadow Councilor for Emfuleni, says the opposition party is appalled by the municipality’s failure to maintain and upgrade its road network.
“The current state of our roads is unacceptable and demands urgent attention,” Mollo says. “Potholed and crumbling roads are not only a nuisance but also a serious safety hazard. They cause damage to vehicles, lead to accidents, and hinder the movement of goods and people. This, in turn, affects local businesses, commuters, and the economy as a whole,” says Mollo.
“Furthermore, the poor state of our roads undermines efforts to attract investment, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth in Emfuleni. It is imperative that the municipality prioritizes road maintenance and upgrades to ensure a safe and efficient transportation network,” Mollo added.
The DA has demanded that the Emfuleni Local Municipality takes immediate action to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the road network to identify priority areas for repair and upgrade, allocate sufficient budget and resources to address the backlog in road maintenance and upgrades and implement a regular maintenance program to prevent further deterioration of roads.
“We will continue to hold the ANC and its coalition accountable for its failure to deliver basic services, including the maintenance of our roads. The people of Emfuleni deserve better, and it’s time for the municipality to take responsibility and act,” Mollo concluded.
