Vaal Dam’s rapid rise sees level nearly at 100%

Although the Vaal Dam is nearly full, Midvaal councillor Pieter Swart says responsible water use remains essential.

The recent wet weather and consistent rainfall have increased Vaal Dam levels to 98.99% this week.

According to the latest dam levels report the inflow into the dam on March 6 was 387.4 cubic meters per second (m³/s).

Although the Vaal Dam is nearly full, Midvaal councillor Pieter Swart says responsible water use remains essential.

“We are now entering a season with less rainfall, and as a water-scarce country, South Africa must conserve water to prevent future shortages. This is the right thing to do to ensure a sustainable water supply, especially during drier periods.”
