Operation Shanela yields success in Evaton

Teams conducted policing duties in Evaton focusing on compliance inspections.

EVATON.- The overall Commander Brigadier Sibuyi led the Sedibeng multidisciplinary team at a roadblock in Evaton on Saturday night.

This was with the help of additional teams conducting policing duties in Evaton focusing on compliance inspections at liquor outlets, drinking and driving, illegal immigrants, illegal firearms and crime prevention duties.

Police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi said that Gauteng Traffic Wardens and other stakeholders were also jointly conducting vehicle checks for roadworthiness, searching for stolen or hijacked vehicles, and verifying documents. Preliminary successes of Operation Shanela in Sedibeng include the apprehension of illegal immigrants, possession and dealing in drugs, drinking and driving, selling liquor without license.
