Sebokeng police hunt for cash-in-transit robbers
Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane confirmed that suspects made away with an undisclosed amount of money.
SEBOKENG – Police are hunting for five unknown suspects following a cash-in-transit robbery at zone 14.
Ster North arrived at the scene and found community members still shaken at the events that unfolded in broad daylight.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane confirmed that suspects made away with an undisclosed amount of money.
Mokhachane said the Fidelity cash van was parked at the Usave store entrance.
“As the crewman was about to enter the store, he was ambushed by two armed suspects. They pointed firearms at him, forcefully took his firearm, and ordered him to lie down on the ground next to their vehicle.”
Two more suspects appeared on the driver’s side and disarmed the driver who was carrying a rifle. The driver fled for safety.
“The suspects opened the cash vehicle and stole an undisclosed amount of cash notes and coins. The suspects subsequently fled the scene,” Mokhachane added.
No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
