Service delivery projects carried out in Sebokeng

ELM Mayor Sipho Radebe expressed his frustration at the current state of affairs in the ELM. He highlighted the condition of roads, mushrooming illegal dumping sites, and sewer flowing down the streets as focal key points of service delivery.

SEBOKENG – An intergovernmental team undertook site visits to various service delivery points in Sebokeng, where projects including road maintenance and the patching of potholes were carried out.

This was done during the Gauteng provincial Service Delivery Programme. The services include road maintenance where potholes were patched, and road signages were updated to improve mobility and safety.

The multidisciplinary service delivery operation carried out recently in Emfuleni Local Municipality follows the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 15 April 2025.

Multiple illegal dumping sites were cleared, enhancing environmental health and restoring community dignity.

Following the site visits, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi called on the management of Emfuleni Local Municipality to do the groundwork to restore the dignity of the people living in ELM.

Lesufi said they should start by doing the small things, such as keeping the currently filthy town clean.

ELM Mayor Sipho Radebe expressed his frustration at the current state of affairs in the ELM. He highlighted the condition of roads, mushrooming illegal dumping sites, and sewer flowing down the streets as focal key points of service delivery.

Radebe said that the municipality had started the work and would ensure that the people of ELM get better service delivery.

The Gauteng Provincial Government says it will continue implementing similar integrated operations across the province as part of its broader strategy to enhance service delivery.
