Vanderbijlpark residents left in the dark after fire at substation

“Technicians have been dispatched and are on-site assessing the extent of the damage."

VANDERBIJLPARK.- A huge portion of the town of Vanderbijlpark has been left in the dark since yesterday night.

This follows a fire that broke out in a 11kV switch room at the town’s substation.

The fire has left the residents frustrated due to the chilly weather, while the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM), on the other hand, said that it is attending to a power outage currently affecting consumers at CW Areas and parts NW.

“Technicians have been dispatched and are on-site assessing the extent of the damage. Estimated time of restoration will be communicated once the investigations are concluded. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
