Malindi guns for Miss Grand SA title

Malindi believes that with the right education and open conversations, children can be empowered to recognise signs of abuse, say no to grooming, and prevent teenage pregnancies.

Nompumelelo Malindi (23) is gunning for the title of Miss Grand South Africa 2025. The beauty hailing from Oranjeville says her journey in pageantry has been a delightful adventure, which has brought positive role models into her life.

Speaking to Ster, the semi-finalist explains that she embarked on her pageantry journey after receiving a compliment about her beauty.

“I was at a pharmacy in Sasolburg when the former mayor noticed me and told me I had the look for pageantry. I later joined a modelling agency where I met Natasha Menino-Costa, who, through her mentorship, became one of the most impactful women in my life.”

Her coach, Miriam Ngomane, helped her rediscover her confidence. Currently, Malindi works as a video editor and project manager at a leading media company. Malindi, who is also a full-time student pursuing a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, states that education and self-development are a big part of who she is.

“As a future educator, I am passionate about women’s health, sex education, and creating safe learning environments for children. These topics are often considered taboo, but silence is no longer an option.”

Malindi believes that with the right education and open conversations, children can be empowered to recognise signs of abuse, say no to grooming, and prevent teenage pregnancies.

Malindi, through partnerships with various organisations plans to take this mission into classrooms and communities especially in rural areas where support is limited.

“With this title, I want to give back to show every young girl from a small town that her dreams are valid and possible.Winning Miss Grand South Africa would allow me to represent South Africa on the international stage in Thailand. The pageant’s advocacy ‘Stop the War and Violence’ aligns deeply with my mission of creating safe, empowered spaces for women and children.”

Malindi says she will use her title to be a voice for the voiceless. To vote for Malindi, you can like her finalist photo on the Miss Grand South Africa 2025 Facebook page.
