Police warn the public against starting field fires

Mahlomola emphasised the importance of responsible behaviour and respect for the property and livelihoods of others.

Communities in the Vaal are warned against veld fires and setting fields ablaze, adding that this action can do more harm than good.

Police spokesperson Constable Mampho Mahlomola says, ” Unmonitored fires can spread rapidly, damaging residential properties, businesses, and grazing lands. This would endanger lives.”

Authorities ask that people refrain from setting fields on fire.

“We urge you to exercise extreme caution and consideration for others, recognising that fields are often used as grassland for animals. Uncontrolled fires can result in devastating losses, including the death of these animals and damage to buildings.”

Mahlomola emphasised the importance of responsible behaviour and respect for the property and livelihoods of others.
