Thuto Lore Academy provides skills development

“Learners received stipends for 12 months and are now permanently employed."

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Thuto Lore Academy, an accredited SDP (Skills Development Provider), is committed to ending youth unemployment in the Vaal.

This organisation, based in Emfuleni, offers young people skills development, learnerships, and skills programmes with national certificates in wholesale and retail operations. The organisation is also offering short programmes like customer service excellence in retail, merchandising and cashier skills programmes.

This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster by the organisation’s marketing director, Peter Mei.

He confirmed with Sedibeng Ster that the organisation is committed to addressing youth unemployment in the community. He said stats are there for everyone to see and that young people’s biggest challenge is a lack of skills, which results in unemployment.

“We are pleased to announce that five of our learners have completed their 12-month programme at Pick n Pay Family Store in Vanderbijlpark SE2 and SE8. Pick n Pay Family stores have opened their door of learning and hosted our learners to learn practical skills in the retail business.”

This training was fully funded by the Wholesale and Retail SETA and Pick n Pay Vanderbijlpark.

“Learners received stipends for 12 months and are now permanently employed,” said Mei.

According to Mei, they encourage partnerships between the private and public sectors to fight poverty and reduce the high unemployment rate, as well as increase skills development. He said SDP is committed to changing the lives of the young people in the community for the better.
