SEBOKENG.-  A suspect was sentenced to 10 years’ direct imprisonment and declared unfit to possess a firearm by the Sebokeng Magistrate’s Court recently.

It is said that on September 10, 2023, the victim was at a tavern with her friend, and as they were about to go, they met with the accused, Thabiso Metsing (36), who requested the victim, with whom he was acquainted, to accompany him to buy cigarettes.

“The accused then took the victim to an open veld at the Sebokeng Zone 7 stadium. He instructed her to take off her clothes and to keep quiet. The accused started raping the victim. He then fell asleep, and the victim sought assistance from nearby houses. Someone then took her to the police station to open a case,” police spokesperson Constable Thulisile Msibi said.

The accused was arrested on the same day, and the investigation was done by Sergeant Mwale from the FCS unit, who worked tirelessly to make sure that the victim gets justice.
