Supporters branch members step up to help struggling family

EVATON.- Orlando Pirates Greater Sebokeng Branch Supporters responded to an “emergency” call to help a mother (47) and her grandchildren.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Mzwakhe Zondo, who is the branch publicist, said they received a call from one of their members about the family’s condition. He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the mother and her three grandchildren are staying in a shack and don’t have enough blankets or warm clothes in this cold weather.
Zondo said they had to respond to the call, but when they got there, they were saddened by the family’s condition.

According to Zondo, the only furniture in the house is a bed and an old sofa/couch. We went there with some members of the branch to see what we could do for the family. When we got there, we were welcomed by the unfortunate living conditions and children without warm clothes.
“We were told that their mother has since left them with their grandmother, and she took the children’s SASA cards,” said Zondo.

“We had to see what we could do, and I must thank our members for their generosity. We managed to organise some warm clothes, shoes, mattresses, and cooked soup for them. However, there is still much that needs to be done in that shack, and on Saturday, we will go back to plaster the house. We call on the community to come on board because even their grandmother needs some clothes. This is a sad situation, and we will do everything in our power to see how best we can help this family,” said Zondo.
