Two injured as car ploughs through dealership fence

Emergency crews responded swiftly to the scene.

VEREENIGING – Two people were injured on Saturday evening when a vehicle rolled and crashed through the fence of New Vaal Motors, a Mercedes-Benz dealership.

The incident occurred just before 19:45 on June 14. According to a report from the security company, Sekuriteit Sonder Grense, a response officer was called to the scene. The officer met three state ambulances at the scene.

The occupants of a grey Nissan Micra were travelling on Van Riebeeck Street in the direction of the Astron filling station when they allegedly lost control of the vehicle on the ramp to Vanderbijlpark. Judging by brake marks on the road, the vehicle hit the curb at high speed, and the driver allegedly lost control before plowing through the palisade fence of New Vaal Motors.

The car rolled and damaged about 20m of the fence before coming to rest on its roof. Both occupants were transported to Kopanong Hospital with injuries.
