Evaton Operation Shanela successful

Additional teams conducted policing duties in Evaton focusing on compliance inspections.

EVATON. – Commander Brigadier Sibuyi led a Sedibeng multidisciplinary team at a roadblock during Operation Shanela in Evaton over the weekend.

Police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi said that additional teams conducted policing duties in Evaton focusing on compliance inspections at liquor outlets, drinking and driving, illegal immigrants, illegal firearms and crime prevention duties. Gauteng Traffic and other stakeholders were jointly conducting vehicle checks for roadworthiness, searching for stolen or hijacked vehicles, and verifying documents.

The successes of Operation Shanela in Sedibeng includes the apprehension of:

  • Drinking and driving suspects
  • Selling liquor without licenses
  • illegal immigrants.

Msibi said that vehicles and liquor premises were also searched.
