Back to school, and anti-bullying campaign at General Smuts
Learners were urged to focus on their studies and respect their teachers and peers.
VEREENIGING.– The Vereeniging SAPS Social Crime Prevention Unit visited General Smuts High School on Tuesday, July 22, to engage learners as the third term kicked off.
The outreach aimed to raise awareness about bullying, peer pressure, gangsterism, and the legal consequences of poor choices.

Around 1,300 learners attended the session.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, said that the initiative was well received.
“The school management thanked Vereeniging SAPS for the School talk and cited that the establishment of a relationship with law enforcement puts them at ease and will instill discipline amongst the learners.”
Sergeant Anna Maredi urged learners to focus on their studies and respect their teachers and peers. Station Commander Brigadier Sibongile Ndaba thanked the unit and encouraged learners to use technology to better understand the dangers of gangsterism.
“An educated mind is one that thinks critically, engage with diverse perspectives, and adapt to new information and situations,” Ndaba said.
