SEDIBENG.- Sedibeng Netball Federation chairperson Fakazile Nkitseng (48) is one of the women to be acknowledged during Women’s Month.

Without a doubt, she is one of the women who need to be applauded for her outstanding work in netball development in the Vaal region. Sedibeng Ster Sport looks at some of her accolades as a player, administrator, and leader.

She is one of the hardest-working individuals whose contributions in the community won’t go unnoticed.

Apart from being the chairperson of Sedibeng Netball Federation, she also holds the position of treasurer for Gauteng Netball and SAPS Vaal-Rand Sports Club. Nkitseng is the vice chairperson and coach of Vaal Eagles Netball Club.

She is still active as a player, playing for the Vaal Eagles Netball Club legends.

In an exclusive interview with Sedibeng Ster Sport’s Women’s Month feature, Nketsing said hosting the 2023 Netball Cup trophy tour at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex in Zone 14, Sebokeng, will go down as the highlight of her career as netball administrator.

She told Sedibeng Ster Sport that she will cherish this moment for the rest of her life. Some of the Sedibeng Netball teams had no playing kits but managed to get equipped under Nketsing’s leadership. She initiated tournaments to raise funds for the Sedibeng Netball Teams that participated in the national championships.

To add feathers on her hat, she also managed to assist 21 coaches obtain their Level 1 Coaching Certificate through the Department of Sports in January.

Under Nkitseng’s leadership, netball structures in Midvaal and Emfuleni municipalities were brought back to life.

“Netball is my life. I enjoy every moment, making sure that netball deserves the recognition that other sporting codes enjoy in this region. I must say it is not easy, but it is a work in progress. We are almost there to achieve our objective to see netball growing by leaps and bounds,” she said.
