Woman rescued after 4m fall into basement

In rescuing the woman, CertSA said Midvaal Fire & Rescue were called to assist, and together, they executed a well-coordinated high-angle rescue under challenging conditions.

VEREENIGING.- A woman is recovering in hospital after falling around 4m into an underground basement on Saturday night.

Community Emergency Response Team, CertSA said the woman was successfully rescued and transported to hospital in a stable condition.

CertSA said: “At approximately 21:10 on August 9, our Vaal crews responded to an incident. The patient was trapped in a confined space, with limited mobility, and had sustained a severe leg fracture.”

In rescuing the woman, CertSA said Midvaal Fire & Rescue were called to assist, and together, they executed a well-coordinated high-angle rescue under challenging conditions.

Careful planning, precise communication, and effective teamwork were crucial to safely lifting her from the confined space.

Various emergency response organisations assisted at the scene, including Frontline of Hope Ministries, Gauteng Emergency Medical Service, and Sekeriteit Sonder Grense.
