Hijacked truck retrieved

When officers attempted to conduct a routine search, the driver sped off.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- While conducting crime prevention duties and stop and search operations in Vanderbijlpark, this week, members of the Gauteng Traffic Police and Gauteng Traffic Wardens STT (Southern Corridor) spotted a suspicious male driving a white Hino truck.

When officers attempted to conduct a routine search, the driver sped off. The vehicle was later confirmed by Rentrak to have been hijacked.

Officers managed to intercept the truck on the N1, and the driver was arrested and charged with reckless and negligent driving, causing an accident, and motor vehicle theft possession (MITP).
