Sebokeng SAPS pleads with the community members to be alert
They check for cars that are parked outside the yard while people are drinking, the vehicles are then hijacked and its owners kidnapped.
SEBOKENG.- The Sebokeng police have warned the community members to take precautionary safety measures as there has been a high rise in hijacking and kidnapping recently
The Station Commander, Brigadier Thembekile Kubone, urged the community members to always be alert as criminals commit crimes at any given time. The police said that the criminals tend to change their crime trends and the recent trend is whereby they check for cars that are parked outside the yard while people are drinking, the vehicles are then hijacked and its owners kidnapped.
“Afterwards the victims are forced to download banking apps and their money will be transferred to unknown bank accounts. Victims tend to be left on the veld, others injured and some killed,” said police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane.
The police plead with public to refrain from parking outside the yard at night or parking on the outskirts.
