Chiefs and Sundowns take a short trip to Vaal as RESA hosts DGL Festival
There is no doubt the Midvaal community will come in numbers to watch these exciting games throughout the day.
SEDIBENG.- Remember Elite Sport Academy (RESA) will host the Gauteng Development League (GDL) U19 Festival.
This much-anticipated festival is scheduled to take place at Sicelo Stadium, Meyerton, in Midvaal on September 21.

RESA’s managing director Mathumba, confirmed this to Sedibeng Ster Sport. Mathumba said they are taking the games to the Scilo community to experience this opportunity to watch the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns’ babies right on their doorsteps. Mathumba said he has no doubt the Midvaal community will come in numbers to watch these exciting games throughout the day.
The day’s programme starts with the game between Kathorus Hyper against SuperSport United. This game will be followed by the game between the hosting team, RESA, against the School of Excellence. This game promises fireworks as both teams are well known for appreciating ball possession.
RESA has made its presence felt in the DGL, and it is the only Vaal-based team that has been playing in this league for quite some time now. They have been competing in this elite academies league for more than five years now. Mamelodi Sundowns babies will be up against their neighbours, Tuks, in the third game of the day. In fact, this is a Tshwane mini derby to say the least, and also promises fireworks.
The Midvaal community will be entertained come September 21.
“We invite the Midvaal community to come in numbers to fill Scilo Stadium. We bring this game to them because we know that they are a community passionate about football. As RESA, we trust and believe in them to fill the stadium because it is close to them,” said Mathumba.
