Two patrons shot during business robbery
Suspects linked to Walkerville pub shooting traced across three areas.
DE DEUR – Police have arrested five suspects in connection with a business robbery that took place at the Deep South Pub in Walkerville.
According to police spokesperson Constable Mampho Mahlomola, three armed men entered the pub and attempted to rob it. During the incident, two patrons were shot. Mahlomola confirms that the victims, a man and a woman, were rushed to the hospital after the suspects fled the scene.
A police investigation following the robbery led to the arrest of five suspects.
“Three suspects were arrested in Heidelberg in possession of a firearm and ammunition suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime. One suspect was arrested in Yeoville, with the last suspect apprehended in Lenasia,” she said.
During the arrests, police seized three vehicles believed to have been used in the crime. Mahlomola confirms that all five suspects have made their first court appearance, adding that investigations are ongoing.
“Police are committed to ensuring that criminality in the area is curbed and that perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice,” she said.
