VEREENIGING.- The Vaal Industrial Soccer League came to an end with Rand Water being crowned the undisputed champion for 2025.
The league concluded this past weekend, with Rand Water finishing at the top with a staggering 30 points. The latter had an unbeaten run until the last games of the season.
The biggest surprise was Vaal Echoes of Love finishing as the runner-up, second to Rand Water. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Kenneth Yamongbe hailed this season as a huge success, with Echo of Vaal being the most improved team of the season. Yamongbe said it is a big jump considering they finished last season at the bottom of the log. He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that this is a remarkable achievement for the Sharpeville Old Age Home, which is a non-profit organisation.
He was full of compliments for the organisation.
However, it was not meant to be for GP Auto, who were the defending champions that finished third on the log this season. Yamongbe described this season as the toughest compared to the previous one, with underdogs causing an upset in the league. In an exclusive interview with Sedibeng Ster Sport, Yamongbe said next season will be even more interesting.
“We had a strong team this season, and we decided to challenge the league. The players were very well disciplined. We are happy and thankful to the company for their support,” said Rand Water’s captain, Pule Maseko, after being crowned the champions.
His sentiments were echoed by the league chairperson Pieter Gololo, who applauded the winners and urged more teams to join the Vaal Industrial Soccer League in the new season. Gololo said participating in the Vaal Industrial Soccer League brings unity among the corporate industry in the Vaal.
