VANDERBIJLPARK.- Heist of Combo Diski Challenge Squads hosted Mamelodi Sundowns development at the Isak Steyl Stadium on Sunday.

These players were selected during the Heist of Combo U12 Diski Challenge that took place at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre recently. However, Sundowns also brought their U13 team to play against the Heist of Combo Diski Challenge squad on the day.

It was a great advert for development football, with these youngsters showcasing their talent against Sundowns’ babies.
The local soccer fans, young and old, and families came in numbers to support the future Bafana Bafana players. Sundowns beat Heist Diski Challenge Squad 5-1 in the first game of the day with the U12.

However, Heist of Combo U13 Diski Challenge Squad beat Sundowns 5-4 in the second game of the day. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Thabo Mathinye, who coordinated this unique project, said it was a day not to be forgotten by these youngsters playing against one of the biggest academies in the country.

He said this partnership will go a long way.
However, Mathinye said it was not about results or who won, but giving these youngsters a platform to showcase their talent.
Mathinye said the project was a huge success, starting with the tournament and the exhibition games over the weekend.

“We, as the Heist of Combo Diski Challenge organiser, want to thank Mamelodi Sundowns development for honouring our invitation. We were humbled by their positive response, especially being such a big brand. We also like to thank everyone who came to support these youngsters, especially the parents who put their busy schedule aside to support their children. It was a great atmosphere on the stand. We also like to thank the coaches and teams that allowed these players to be part of the tournament. Remember, these players were selected from all the teams that participated in the Heist of Combo Diski Challenge,” said Mathinye.
