EVATON.- It is that time of the year when the community soccer teams get ready for the much-anticipated annual Pooe Festive Soccer, otherwise known as the Kasi World Cup.
This tournament is one of the biggest soccer tournaments in the local football calendar in Gauteng.

This tournament is scheduled to take place at Pooe Ground in Evaton from December 13 – 30.
The first meeting of the tournament took place at Pooe Business Centre on November 23, with the teams being briefed about this year’s tournament. This tournament attracts teams all over Gauteng and Free State, with soccer fans, young and old, spending their festive season watching kasi football.
This annual soccer tournament is hosted by the Kogi Sports Foundation every year during the festive season holidays and the winner will smile all the way to the bank with a cheque of R150 000 at the end of the tournament.

The stakes are high, with the 32 soccer teams battling throughout the festive holidays for the above-mentioned prize money.
Some of the teams that are expected to be part of this tournament include Vaal Juventus FC, Ben 10 FC, Beke Le Beke, Izingwenya, and Celta Vigo FC, to mention a few.
Vaal Juventus FC has recently dominated this Kasi football tournament, however, there are some new teams that also came out strong and made their presence known in this tournament. This is one tournament that plays an important part for the Evaton community.
