Wanted robbery and kidnapping suspects arrested in De Deur
De Deur joint operation yields positive results
DE DEUR. – Three African males wanted in connection with business robbery and kidnapping cases in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga, were arrested during a Station Commander’s operation conducted by De Deur SAPS in collaboration with Siyabangena Patrollers on December 12.
Police spokesperson Constable Mampho Mahlomola reports that the suspects were apprehended within the De Deur policing area as police intensified crime-prevention efforts ahead of the festive season.
Mahlomola said the arrest marked a significant breakthrough during an operation aimed at curbing criminal activity and enhancing police visibility in identified hotspot areas.
The operation saw police deployed across the precinct, focusing on areas prone to criminal activity.
As part of the initiative, registered liquor outlets were visited to ensure compliance with liquor legislation. Mhlomola states that owners were also engaged on the importance of employing security personnel to safeguard both patrons and staff.
According to Mahlomola, the operation combined enforcement with awareness, reinforcing the need for cooperation between law enforcement, businesses, and the community in the fight against crime.
Mahlomola said the operation would be an ongoing one to ensure the safety and security of community members during the festive season.
“We are determined to curb criminality, address lawlessness, and ensure that all perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice,” adding that increased police visibility remains a key strategy in preventing crime and reassuring residents.
De Deur SAPS and Siyabangena Patrollers reaffirmed their commitment to sustained operations aimed at creating a safer environment for all residents and visitors during the festive period.
