Blankets and shelter donated in Savanna City

Community partnerships bring warmth and support to vulnerable residents

SAVANNA CITY. – Elderly residents in Midvaal’s Ward 11 received blankets on Wednesday, 17 December, during a community outreach initiative held in Savanna City.

The initiative was a collaboration between the Democratic Alliance Women’s Network (DAWN) Midvaal and the Idube Foundation NPC, founded by local entrepreneur and businesswoman Danelle Dreyer.

In addition to the blanket distribution, a Wendy house was launched for use as a shelter facility that will cater to abused women and children in the community.

The Wendy house was donated by TN Ceramics in Meyerton. Dreyer extended her appreciation to MD Herford Dennis of TN Ceramics, describing the company as a stakeholder in Midvaal whose contribution would have a meaningful impact on vulnerable community members.

Dreyer, who is also an aspirant counsellor for Midvaal, said the outreach formed part of ongoing efforts to provide social support to elderly residents and victims of abuse.

Refiloe Teixeira, wife of Midvaal Mayor Peter Teixeira, was also involved in the initiative.

The outreach took place at 10:00 and targeted elderly residents from the surrounding area, with organisers highlighting the role of partnerships between community organisations and local businesses.
