MEC Bonginkosi Dhlamini to assess Sedibeng schools’ state of readiness for 2026

The visit aims to ensure that schools are safe, functional, and in a suitable condition to support effective teaching and learning.

SEDIBENG.- As part of ensuring that schools across Gauteng are fully prepared to receive learners for the 2026 academic year, the Gauteng Provincial Government has mandated Members of the Executive Council (MECs) to conduct oversight visits at schools across the province to assess their state of readiness as learners return to school.

In this regard, the MEC for the Gauteng Department of e-Government,  Bonginkosi Dhlamini, will on Wednesday, January 14 , visit schools in the Sedibeng Region at Kgokare Secondary School and Esokwazi Secondary School to assess their readiness for the commencement of the new academic year.

The visit aims to ensure that schools are safe, functional, and in a suitable condition to support effective teaching and learning.

This initiative forms part of the annual Back-to-School Campaign, led by Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, which is conducted at the beginning of each academic year. The campaign seeks to assess school readiness, provide encouragement to learners, and identify areas where additional support may be required.

During the visit, the MEC will assess:

  • The overall school environment and infrastructure
  • Availability of resources for teaching and learning
  • Areas requiring support to ensure schools are adequately prepared to deliver quality education
