VADERBIJLPARK.- Local soccer fans returned home disappointed after the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League match between VUT FC and Perfect Academy was postponed at the last minute.

This much-anticipated fixture was scheduled to take place at Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 15:00.

Sedibeng Ster Sport ran a preview article about this fixture, only to later discover that the game had been called off.

According to information gathered by Sedibeng Ster Sport, the postponement was communicated on Friday through Perfect Academy’s social media platform.

Many supporters were unaware of the development and only learned of the postponement upon arriving at the stadium, where security personnel informed them there would be no game.

When Sedibeng Ster Sport arrived at the venue, a few soccer fans were already present, with some travelling as far as Sebokeng and Bophelong. They expressed frustration, saying they relied on the newspaper fixture list, which indicated that the match would go ahead as planned.

One disappointed fan said, “The Pooe Festive Tournament is over, so we wanted to support the Hollywoodbets League teams. We spent money on travel to come and support our local teams. We read in the newspaper that the game was happening, but when we got here, there was nothing. It is a huge disappointment.”

Meanwhile, it is understood that VUT FC asked for the game to be moved because many of their players have not yet returned from their holidays. The reason for the postponement has not been officially confirmed.

Head Coach Sechaba Mofokeng confirmed with Sedibeng Ster Sport that the league only informed them about the postponement on Friday.

The league has not yet said when the match will be played.
