Another young star from Vaal joins Orlando Pirates
Pirates signed this Vaal-born young star following the departure of their reliable defender, Mbekezeli Mbokazi
SEBOKENG.- Mpho Chabatsane (23) is the latest player from the Vaal to join Orlando Pirates. Pirates signed Chabatsane from Marumo Gallants after an impressive performance in his PSL debut.

Pirates signed this Vaal-born young star following the departure of their reliable defender, Mbekezeli Mbokazi, to the MLS Club, Chicago Fire. Many believe Chabatsane is the perfect replacement for Mbokazi, who was the Pirates’ backbone.
Chabatsane can play either as the left-back or left-centre back. His ability to read the game and play cool under pressure separates him from the rest. He is a typical modern defender who is comfortable with the ball.
Chabatsane is the fifth player from the Vaal to join the Sea Robbers, as Orlando Pirates are affectionately known in football circles.
Some of the players from the Vaal playing for Pirates include Relebohile Mofokeng, Tshepang Moremi, Thabiso Lebitso, and Boitumelo Radiopane.
For the first time, the Pirates have more than three players from the Vaal in their team.
Back to Chabatsane, Pirates developed an interest in him when they beat Marumo Gallants 1-0 in the Carling Black Label Cup final in December.
Chabatsane was outstanding at the back for Gallants, marshalling defense like a seasoned campaigner. When Pirates looked for Mbokazi’s replacement, they didn’t look further or bigger than Chabatsane.
They have faith in this greenhorn defender.
He is coming into the team that is regarded as the team of the moment.
Pirates are a team to beat this season, winning every available trophy.
