What more can we ask for!

Zakes’ Sport Corner doesn’t foresee the possibility of a professional soccer team any time soon.

SEDIBENG.- Forget about the Vaal (Sedibeng) not being represented in top-flight football!

This region seems to be better off without a professional team looking at the talent that is booming every year.

This region is feeding South African football, both at club level and national teams, junior and senior national teams. The Vaal is unmatched when it comes to talent since the days of Simon ‘Bull’ Lehoko, Andrew Malome Phiri, Kenneth ‘Conti’ Kubheka, Bricks Mbele, and Augustine Makalakalane, to mention a few.

The above-mentioned players were the first generation of Vaal Triangle players who made a name for themselves in top-flight football.  They paved the way for the current generation of players.

It has been years since the Vaal Triangle had a team in South African football, since the now-defunct Vaal Professional, otherwise known as ‘Setla’, was relegated from top-flight football. As things stand, many have lost hope that the Vaal Triangle will ever produce a professional football club soon.

Despite this, this region has produced talent year after year. Relebohile Mofokeng and Tshepang Moremi are two youngsters from the Vaal who are currently taking South African football by storm.

These Sharpeville-born youngsters were part of the Bafana Bafana team that participated in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). There is a good possibility that they will also be part of the Bafana Bafana players going to the World Cup.

The question is, what more can we ask for, having two exciting players from this region who are doing exceptionally well?

Forget about not having a representative in the top-flight football; we are cruising nicely!

Vaal players are all over PSL clubs, doing exceptionally well for their respective clubs.
