Metro Stars FC walks away with derby bragging rights

It was regarded as an “A game” but failed to live up to expectations, with VUT FC looking as if they were just honouring this fixture.

SEDIBENG.- Metro Stars FC walked away with derby bragging rights when they beat VUT FC 3-0 in the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbets Men Regional League fixture.

This much-talked-about fixture took place at Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday morning. It was like a training session with Stars FC, who ran riot against their neighbours, who offered no resistance. In fact, it was a walk in the park for Stars FC, who completely dominated their opponents for the better part of the game.

VUT FC looked disjointed and unfit, with their goalkeeper found wanting every time Stars FC was on the attack. VUT FC looked like a team that never had a decent training session in preparation for this important fixture. Much was expected of “The Students”, with all the qualities they have in their team; however, it was an easy ride for Stars FC.

It was goal after goal with all three goals scored in the first half. Even their second substitutions didn’t bring any changes as Stars FC continued to dominate. The game became a boring affair, and VUT FC seemed to have thrown in the towel. It was regarded as an “A game” but failed to live up to expectations, with VUT FC looking as if they were just honouring this fixture.

They were not ready; from the first whistle, Stars FC forced them to commit silly mistakes, which resulted in goals. It was a comedy of errors.
Sedibeng Ster Sport has learned that before this game, VUT FC didn’t train as most of their players had just returned from holidays. They looked like a team that was still on holiday.
This was their first game of the year. Every other team in the league has already played three to four games so far.
This win positions Stars FC as a strong contender for the league at the end of the season.
