BOIPATONG.- There was entertainment galore at Boipatong Stadium on Saturday as local football fans were treated to a star-studded ex-professional tournament.

Hosted by 9EightEight, the event served as the perfect curtain-raiser for the massive Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium.

The four-team exhibition saw local former professionals go head-to-head against their counterparts from Soweto.

The stands were painted in black, gold, and white as supporters from both sides gathered to cheer on their heroes.

Some of the ex-professionals who were part of these exhibition games include former Kaizer Chiefs defender Thabang Rooi, Solly Nketle (Vaal Professional), Pitso Lekoene (SuperSport United), Joseph China Masondo (Orlando Pirates), Sailor Tshabalala (Orlando Pirates), Peter Khoabane (SuperSport United), Vuyo Mere (Mamelodi Sundowns), and Motlatsi Mohopeloa (Orlando Pirates).

Once the boots were hung up, the legends joined fans to watch the much-anticipated Soweto Derby on the big screen.

It was a great atmosphere with celebrations all over the place, especially after Orlando Pirates scored the third goal to seal a 3-0 victory.
