SEBOKENG.- Sedibeng Boxing Association, in conjunction with the Emfuleni Department of Sports and Recreation, hosted a Provincial Boxing Tournament at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre in Zone 14.
This event commenced last Thursday and is scheduled to conclude over the weekend.
This is not the first occasion that Sedibeng has hosted this provincial tournament.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Thanduxolo Madikizela explained that the tournament aims to select boxers to represent Gauteng in the National Boxing Championships.
Madikizela said the tournament has been a success so far, noting they witnessed great talent from the start.
Well-known boxers have been produced in the Vaal
“We are very excited to host this tournament. This year’s standard is too high, with the regions bringing the best talent to this provincial boxing tournament. We are looking forward to the weekend final, where we will be announcing the team that will represent Gauteng at the national championships,” said Madikizela.
The Vaal is well-known for producing outstanding boxers in the past. Some of the great former boxing champions from this region include Carlton ‘Swing Carlie’ Monnakgotle, “Baby Lux” Khambule, John ‘Black Shamba’ Mthimkulu, Shole ‘Tiger Floor’ Mokoena, Petrus ‘Cutter’ Mahlangu, who is the father of Bongani Mahlangu.
Other notable names include David Potsane and Aaron ‘Ak47’ Kabi. Some of these athletes went on to represent the country in international tournaments. Among them was Potsane, who spent the remainder of his boxing career in the USA before returning to South Africa.
