Mazibuko honours Mandela Day at Kopanong and Sebokeng Hospitals

Inspired by Madiba’s legacy of service and compassion, the MEC donated essential care items.

SEDIBENG.- In honour of Nelson Mandela Day, MEC for Health and Wellness, Faith Mazibuko spent Saturday morning at Kopanong District Hospital bringing warmth, comfort and hope to newly born babies, their mothers, and pediatric patients admitted at the facility.

Inspired by Madiba’s legacy of service and compassion, the MEC donated essential care items to new mothers and their babies, including ointments, soaps, bath cloths, fleece blankets, baby gowns and toiletries.

Mazibuko also encouraged mothers to ensure that their children receive all recommended vaccinations according to the Road to Health Card to protect them against vaccine-preventable diseases.

She further emphasised the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life, highlighting its role in providing optimal nutrition, strengthening immunity and supporting healthy growth and development.

Mazubuko later on moved to the Sebokeng Hospital to spend time with pediatric patients and gifted them gowns and fleece blankets, as well as essential items for newly born babies and their mothers.
