SEDIBENG. – The ANC Sedibeng has extended heartfelt condolences to the Nquba family following the death of its veteran, Thembile ‘Tata’ Nquba.

Nquba, from Ward 23 in Bophelong, was 74-years-old when he died on August 8.

The party said that his passing brings to an end a long life of political activism, working-class struggle and service to the people of Bophelong and the broader Sedibeng community.

Nquba served the party in various capacities, including as chairperson of the ANC Ward 23 Bophelong Branch and later as Deputy Regional Chairperson of the ANC in Sedibeng.

“His commitment to community organisation also saw him serve as former SANCO Regional Chairperson, strengthening the link between organised communities and the broader progressive movement,” ANC Sedibeng said.

He belonged to a generation of activists whose political consciousness was shaped by the struggles of workers and communities against apartheid and exploitation.

He also served as an ANC Ward Councillor for Ward 23 in Bophelong, as a Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) and later as Chief Whip of Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM).

“Tata Nquba belonged to a generation of activists whose political consciousness was shaped by the struggles of workers and communities against apartheid and exploitation. The ANC Sedibeng Region extends its heartfelt condolences to the Nquba family, relatives, comrades, former colleagues, the Ward 23 Bophelong Branch, the trade union movement and the entire community of Bophelong.”
