ANC Sedibeng holds a localised Manifesto Launch

Regions across the country were entrusted with the responsibility to internalise, interpret and localise the national manifesto.

VEREENIGING. – The ANC in Sedibeng held a localised Manifesto Launch at the Vereeniging Civic Hall on Sunday.

Following its Election Manifesto by Cyril Ramaphosa in Diepsloot two weeks ago, regions across the country were entrusted with the responsibility to internalise, interpret and localise the national manifesto in a manner that speaks directly to the lived realities of their communities.

In a statement, ANC Sedibeng said that a manifesto cannot remain merely a national political document or a statement of broad commitments.

“Its true meaning is realised when it is translated into concrete programmes, priorities and interventions that respond to the particular challenges confronting communities on the ground. It is for this reason that the localisation of the ANC Manifesto becomes particularly important at regional, branch and ward level, and ultimately for every councillor and candidate who will carry the movement’s message into communities.”

ANC Treasurer-General Gwen Ramokgopa, alongside Provincial Task Team Member Boyce Maneli, joined the festivities.

The Regional Chairperson, Mlungisi Hlongwane, presented the Sedibeng localised manifesto, aligning the national commitments of the ANC with the particular conditions, opportunities and challenges confronting communities across the Sedibeng region.

“The exercise was not simply about repeating what had already been presented at national level. It was about asking a more fundamental political question: What does the ANC Manifesto mean for the people of Sedibeng, and what must the movement do differently and more urgently to give practical effect to those commitments?”
