SEDIBENG.- The Sedibeng SAPS recently welcomed a 34-year sentence of direct imprisonment for a man after he was convicted of three counts of rape and two counts of kidnapping.
The sentence was handed down by the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on September 9.
The court ordered that the sentence in count 2 shall run concurrently with count 1.
Nkuna was found guilty on three counts of rape and two counts of kidnapping linked to the Orange Farm and Evaton cases, where the victims were both 16-year-old learners.
He was sentenced as follows:
– Count 1 – Rape: 15 years’ direct imprisonment
– Count 2 – Rape: 15 years’ direct imprisonment
– Count 3 – Rape: 15 years’ direct imprisonment
– Count 4 – Kidnapping: 2 years’ direct imprisonment
– Count 5 – Kidnapping: 2 years’ direct imprisonment
Police said that the court ordered that the sentence in count 2 shall run concurrently with count 1.
He was also declared unfit to work with children.
The accused will effectively serve 34 years’ direct imprisonment.
The man was further declared unfit to possess a firearm in terms of the Firearms Control Act, and his name will be entered into the National Register for Sex Offenders.

The Evaton SAPS Station Commander, Brigadier Doctor Sibuyi. commended the investigating officer, Sergeant Mwale of the Sedibeng FCS Unit, for the thorough and dedicated investigation that led to the conviction and lengthy sentence.
