SEDIBENG. – The local supporters of the ruling party, the ANC, have come out to rubbish the decision by the SACP Vaal to contest the upcoming Local Government Elections (LGE) as a stand-alone.
The supporters told Sedibeng Ster that SACP Vaal members are ‘cry babies’ and that the SACP is only after two wards in Emfuleni.
Those being Wards 36 and 37.
Ward 36 encompasses Zone 10, Kwaggafontein, and Waterdal, while Ward 37 covers Zone 7.

Hassan Mako, the current Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) mayor, is the ANC’s candidate in Ward 37, and Mpho ‘Fish’ Kolisang, also of the ANC, is contesting a comeback in Ward 36.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster on condition of anonymity, the supporters said that the SACP is not concerned about other wards.
Writing on social media, one supporter said, “Why am I not surprised that most of the SACP candidates in Emfuleni are current councillors of the ANC who failed the test. While others, shame, wish and dream of being PR councillors. Some of them were councillors for two terms (10 years).”
Thembinkosi Pulu, SACP Vaal Secretary, slammed the claims.
It is not true!
“It is not true. SACP has registered candidates in all 45 wards in Sedibeng, 15 wards in Midvaal and 13 wards in Lesedi. As we speak, Lesedi has started with the postering of ward candidates. Secondly, ward candidates have never been councillors; it is the first time, actually, that all SACP candidates have gone through an intensive screening process. They have already signed the declaration of interest forms, and they will be signing the forms quarterly.”

He ended by saying that any suggestions that say the SACP has fielded candidates who failed the test are misleading.
“The very same ANC is known for its own failures rising from factionalism, patronage and corruption which has led to failures of service delivery.”
