EFF mayoral candidate fights for Emfuleni’s future

"No one buys shares in a failing company to lose money."

SEDIBENG. – “The death of Emfuleni must never be allowed to happen under our watch.”

This bold statement was made by Jeannette Maloka, the EFF’s Mayoral Candidate for Emfuleni Local Municipality.

Maloka declared that, politics aside, the interests of the residents of Emfuleni must be put first. She urged people to put political party loyalty aside.

“Put the interests of the over 900 000 residents of Emfuleni in the forefront.”

Maloka wants Emfuleni residents to vote for change in the upcoming local government elections and treat their votes like shares that they are buying to own Emfuleni. She explained that just as shares bring financial dividends to shareholders in a company, a vote should bring what residents voted for.

No one buys shares in a failing company to lose money.

She said that the dividends on the ‘shares’ for the residents are:

-Electricity

-Drinkable and safe water

-Waste removal

-Quick response to emergencies

-Working street lights

-Safety and security in all public spaces

-Well resurfaced and reconstructed Roads

-No more sewer leaks

Maloka noted that no one buys shares in a failing company to lose money, and she does not expect citizens to vote for a failing municipality. She also promised to hold regular progress meetings with the community so residents understand why certain projects happen or experience delays.

“I will make sure that we do not only meet when we talk about IDP (Integrated Development Plan). As shareholders (voters) of Emfuleni, I commit to being available 24/7 and accountable to you.  The death of Emfuleni can’t be this soon, and must never be allowed to happen under our watch,” Maloka concluded.
