Cosmos fight for their lives at the bottom
Pirates FC is now in third position on the log with 31 points from 17 games.
SEDIBENG.- It never rains but pours for Jomo Cosmos as they sank deeper into the ABC Motsepe League’s relegation zone after a difficult weekend.
On Saturday afternoon at Isak Steyl Stadium, Cosmos (affectionately known as Ezenkosi) suffered a 2-0 defeat at home against the current log leaders, Free Agents FC. This was a must-win game for the home team to move away from the relegation axe. However, they faced a Free Agents side desperate for points to overtake Dinoko City FC at the top of the table.

Free Agents took control early on.
They scored what many felt was a “soft” goal from a corner kick, where a defender outjumped everyone to find the back of the net. The visitors looked dangerous every time they had the ball. The defeat saw Ezenkosi drop to second-to-last place on the log, just one point above bottom-of-the-log Marumo United.

While the club says it’s too early to panic because they have two games in hand, the situation is critical. They have a massive challenge ahead if they want to survive the drop.
The weekend results have caused a shake-up at both ends of the table.

Agents FC are topping the log with 32 points from 17 games, with City second on 31 points from the same number of games. Meanwhile, Young Pirates FC seems to be back in the hunt for the title. They beat Tshwane South College 2-1 at Sicelo Stadium in Midvaal on Sunday.

Pirates FC is now in third position on the log with 31 points from 17 games. In fact, they are tied on 31 points with Dinoko City, separated only by goal difference, making it a three-way battle for the top spot.
