EVATON.- Town Stars FC are the undisputed Emfuleni Local Football Association (ELFA) champions after a thrilling victory on Saturday.

The team defeated Vaal Inter FC in the Champion of Champions match, which was held at the Qedilizwe ground in Evaton West. The match was decided by a penalty shootout after the teams were locked at 1-1 at full time, with Town Stars eventually winning 4-2 on penalties.

Town Stars FC and Vaal Inter FC earned their spots in the final after winning the Super League titles in their respective Boitshepiville and Sebokeng streams. The two regional winners then faced off to determine the ultimate champion of Emfuleni.

Both teams will represent the association.

Despite Town Stars taking the overall crown, both teams will represent the association in the upcoming Inter-Local Football Association Promotion Play-offs. The tournament will be hosted by SAFA Sedibeng, with the dates to be announced at a later stage.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport after the match, Zakhele Mtshali said both teams treated the game as vital preparation for the upcoming play-offs. The two clubs will compete for promotion to the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbets Regional Men’s League for the 2026/2027 season.

They will compete against the other two local football associations, Midvaal and Lesedi.

Mtshali expressed satisfaction with the team’s display but noted room for improvement.

“I don’t doubt that we are ready for the playoffs. There are just a few things we need to work on, especially finishing. We create a lot of scoring opportunities but waste them,” said Mtshali.

Both Town Stars FC and Vaal Inter FC will secure promotion to the SAFA Sedibeng Regional League at the conclusion of the play-offs.
