SHARPEVILLE.- Bafana Bafana star Relebohile Mofokeng made his dream debut for his new Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in a pre-season friendly match against Dutch giant PSV Eindhoven FC on July 18.

Mofokeng came off the bench for the final 30 minutes and immediately made an impact by providing an assist in the 3-3 draw.

Mofokeng has been making headlines since his move to Belgium, with every media outlet following his football career. After Bafana Bafana were eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Mofokeng immediately bought a flight ticket to Belgium, leaving his teammates behind.

When he came in, his parents took their excitement to social media, posting the Saint-Gilloise supporters chanting Relebohile Mofokeng’s name outside the stadium. This former Orlando Pirates forward continued where he left off with his performance at the World Cup, where Bafana Bafana qualified for the Round of 32 for the first time in history.

Apart from his performance for Bafana Bafana, Mofokeng dominated the PSL, leading Orlando Pirates.

The move to Europe was long overdue because of his outstanding performance. His performance on Saturday for his new team showed his readiness for the big stage.
