SHARPEVILLE. Sharpeville-born soccer star, Tshepang Moremi, was in brilliant form on Wednesday, scoring his second Betway Premiership goal as Pirates drew 1-1 with his former club AmaZulu in an entertaining midweek fixture at Kings Park Stadium in Durban.

Moremi opened the scoring early in the match before AmaZulu fought back to equalise from the penalty spot, resulting in both teams sharing the points.

The left-footed winger has started the season like a house on fire. He also scored his first goal of the campaign in a 2-0 home win against Milford FC, a match where fellow Bafana Bafana international Oswin Appollis also found the back of the net.

Moremi and his homeboy Relebohile Mofokeng began their amateur football careers on the dusty pitches of Sharpeville before rising to fame in South African football. Mofokeng played a key role in helping Pirates secure the PSL championship last season, but has since moved abroad to join the Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Many believe that Moremi is the man capable of carrying Pirates on his shoulders this season.

In a previous interview with Sedibeng Ster Sport, Moremi shared that Mofokeng’s departure has served as a major motivation for him. With Mofokeng now playing in Europe, many believe that Moremi is the man capable of carrying Pirates on his shoulders this season to help the club win more silverware.

Based on his performances so far, Moremi is certainly a player to watch.

Following these early results, defending champions Pirates currently sit second on the Betway Premiership table with four points, while archrivals Kaizer Chiefs lead the standings with six points.
