Young Vaal girl finishes 4th in Junior Squash Tournament

"She felt she could compete against the big girls in this competition."

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Sine Dlamini (15) finished fourth in the Junior SOS Squash Tournament held in Roodeport, Johannesburg, on October 10.

The young Dlamini competed in the U17 Girls category.

This was the first time she competed in this age group, but she held her own against the age group. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, her father, Hero Dlamini, who also happened to be her coach, said, Sine decided to enter and participate in the U17 Girls category, and finishing fourth place was a remarkable achievement.

Dlamini said his daughter is a brave young girl with a big heart destined for a great future in sport.

He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that at the age of 15, Sine has proved beyond doubt that she has a great future in Squash. The young Dlamini had a great year, ranking in the National Top 10 U15 Girls.

She felt she could compete against the big girls in this competition.

“Sine surprised all of us when she entered to participate in this age group. I had no choice but to support her decision, and she never disappointed me. She is pushing herself hard at training; hence, she felt she could compete against the big girls in this competition,” said the father.

Dlamini is going to compete in the 2026 Parys Junior Open scheduled to take place on October 23 -25.

This will be her last tournament to participate in this year.

Her father said this will give her enough time to concentrate on her studies with final exams around the corner.
