MEYERTON. – Sicelo Primary School Grade 7 learners were recently celebrated in form of a beautiful graduation ceremony held at the Meyerton Town Hall. The objective of the event was to give recognition to the learners who are said to have served as an excellent example of what seniors in a school should strive to be.
Speaking to Ster North, the Principal Patricia Nkabinde said that the group was deserving of such a send-off as they were going to start a new journey in high school next year.
“Over 90% of our kids have done well in their exam. Today we are here to give them a message of hope because we want them to do well when they get to high school. Most of our learners will also be receiving awards today as they took part in various activities during the school year and even excelled in them. We will also be handing out academic awards where our top students will be recognised.”
Nkabinde said over 200 learners were graduating on the day. Nkabinde thanked her teachers for putting in efforts and working hard to ensure that learners achieve good results.
“Teachers play a very important role in not only teaching learners but by also giving them the support they need in order to achieve good results.”
Nkabinde said she was also grateful for the support that parents have given to learners as this will encourage them to keep on doing well.
Nkabinde reiterated that she together with her team are striving to make Sicelo Primary school a school of excellence. “As they go to different schools next year, we hope that the foundation we have laid will sustain them and they will carry on being good students.”
Parents said that they were happy to see their kids graduating as this shows that they are ready to start with the next step of their life, which is high school.
