Midvaal lady puts smiles on faces of the elderly

Zamokuhle Zilimbola from Midvaal Local Muniipality says giving to her community has always been something that gives her fulfilment.

MEYERTON. – Zamokuhle Zilimbola (28) from Meyerton is passionate about bringing a positive change in her community. Zilimbola runs an organisation called Thando Kuhle Bakhe which is the vehicle she uses to give help to her community.

Last week, Zilimbola invited Sedibeng Ster to witness her handing over about 70 food parcels to members of her community, with most of them being the elderly people.

“I’m fighting for a change in my community. From a young age I always shared everything I had with people who were less privileged than me. This is how I grew up. I organise a Christmas party for kids from in and around my community every year. This year, I told myself that I wanted to do something different and that is why I collected food parcels to give to my community.

Christmas came early for the Meyerton community after they received food parcels.

“Some of the recipients come from house holds with no income, some get grants but that is not enough to meet their needs. I also chose to give to some of the young people that I know have no source of income. The food will at least carry them through the month of December. For some, it will assist until they can come up with an alternative plan.”

Zilimbola also dedicates her time to teaching young kids art. “I teach kids dance and poetry and they will be performing as a gesture to our recipients today.”

Speaking about Zilimbola’s gesture, recipients said that they were grateful for the food that they would be receiving.

Zilimbola asks members of the community with anything to give to contact her on 060 364 4435. “We do not ask for any money, we appreciate anything that people donate because all I want to do is help the needy.”
