Herdsmen arrested after 10 cattle go missing

Major General Zodwa Molefe has commended members of the stock theft unit for swiftly recovering 10 stolen cattle.

VEREENIGING. – Two herdsmen have been arrested following the theft of 10 cattle in Vereeniging.

Police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda reports that a case of stock theft was launched last week Friday after the cattle went missing while in the possession of their herdsmen.

Funda says, “It was reported that the cattle had been forcefully taken from the herdsmen. All statements were taken by members of the stock theft unit, after which a thorough investigation was carried out.

“On Saturday, the cattle were tracked and found in Finetown near Ennerdale. Both the herdsmen were arrested. The owner of the kraal where the cattle were found was also charged with possession of suspected stolen property,” said Funda.

All suspects have since appeared at the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court.

The Sedibeng District Commander Major General Zodwa Molefe has commended members for the success effected by the stock theft unit in a short space of time.
