Five-year-old die from alleged food poisoning
Vanderbijlpark police are investigating an inquest docket following a tragic demise of a toddler in Bophelong.
VANDERBIJLPARK – Police in Vanderbijlpark are investigating an inquest docket after a five-year-old boy died on Wednesday in Bophelong from suspected food poisoning.
According to police reports, the child had a stomach ache before being taken to a Johan Heyns Community Centre where he was declared dead.
Speaking to Ster South, police spokesperson Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu confirmed the incident.
“Our officers were called to Johan Heyns hospital and upon their arrival they were shown the lifeless body of a five-year-old child. It is further alleged that the five-year-old child was seen eating Simba snacks and after that complained about stomach cramps and pains according to the witnesses,” he said.
Sigcu added “The investigation is ongoing and still awaiting the post-mortem results to determine the real cause of his death.”
